XQuery implementation Ivelin pointed out Qexo: The GNU Kawa implementation of XQuery on cocoon-dev. Per Bother is one smart cookie.
Looking at the examples, it seems as if one could obtain XQuery-like functionality with a jelly script.

You should have mentioned GNU Kawa is a Scheme engine written in Java.

Cool stuff anyways. The XSLT engine implemented in Kawa is another interesting piece, which I guess works by translating the XSLT program to a Scheme one. Support for XPath is more complex, but a good and simple Scheme implementation is SXPath, available at http://okmij.org/ftp/Scheme/xml.html.
